Canna Australia is an AWESOME specimen with brilliant, red flowers on exotic black-green foliage. These are shipped as plants, not rootstock, all spring and summer. Plant this beauty in the back of the flower garden or as a focal point, as it grows 4-5' tall. Make sure it has some protection from the wind as well. Blooms mid-summer until frost and attracts hummingbirds. In northern climates, lift bulbs after first frost and overwinter indoors in a cool, dry place. Replant in the spring after all danger of frost has passed.
Plant in full sun, in moist soil or in water over the roots. Canna make a great pond plant and can be the focal point in your pond or water garden. Make sure your planting container is deep enough to keep your plants from blowing over. If you plant in a deep container with holes, the canna roots will take up extra nutrients in the water and help to eliminate algae in your pond.In northern climates, lift bulbs after first frost and overwinter indoors in a cool, dry area.
